Key Safes: How They Work

A key safe is a simple and secure way to store a door key outside of your home. They allow your keyholders or emergency services to gain access to your home.

If you order a key safe with Self-Connect online, here’s what will happen…

  1. We’ll process your payment and collect your keyholder and medical details.
  2. We’ll post the personal alarm unit for you to connect yourself. It’s quick and easy to do, and you can always ask a relative or friend to help you.
  3. We’ll call you within one working day* to arrange a suitable time to fit your key safe. We offer morning or afternoon appointments and will normally fit your key safe within five working days.
  4. That’s it – you’re now fully set up with help available 24/7 at the touch of a button!


Unfortunately, our key safe installation and We-Connect services are not available in Scotland, Isle of Man, Isle of Wight or the Scilly Islands.  For options available in these areas, please call 0800 085 7371.


If you order a key safe with We-Connect online, here’s what will happen…

  1. We’ll process your payment and collect your keyholder and medical details.
  2. One of our team will call within one working day* to arrange a suitable time for the installation.
  3. We offer morning or afternoon appointments and can normally attend within five working days.
  4. Our Telecare Consultant will bring everything with them and install your personal alarm and key safe at the time agreed.
  5. They’ll install the alarm and key safe, show you how to use them and ensure the alarm is fully registered with the response team.
  6. That’s it – you’re now fully set up with help available 24/7 at the touch of a button!

If you order We-Connect via the phone (0800 085 7371), your advisor will arrange the installation at the same time.
