How our personal alarms work

The personal alarm can be worn discreetly as a wristband or pendant.

The personal alarm base unit detects when the pendant or wristband alarm button is pressed and quickly connects to our UK response centre:

  • The response team will know who you are and will have access to any medical information you have shared with us.
  • The response team will try and speak with you over the alarm’s speaker to assess the situation.
  • The trained and experienced response team can provide help and advice or contact your keyholders or the emergency services on your behalf.
  • Even if you are not able to speak, by pressing the alarm button we'll know who you are and where you are calling from so can direct support to you very quickly.
  • The alarms work up to approximately 150 metres (492 ft) away from the base unit and are water resistant so you can be confident of support when you require it. **

Our personal alarm units are easy to set-up or our Telecare Consultants can connect the alarm unit in your home on your behalf for a one-off cost of £60.

You can get expert support from our qualified nurses and trained pharmacists by adding our medical helplines to your personal alarm package for an additional 28p per week. 

  • Speak to a nurse 24 hours a day about any concern or question you may have about your health or wellbeing.
  • If you have a question or concern about your medication or prescriptions, you can call a pharmacist 7 days a week.

You can order easily online or over the phone by calling 0800 085 7371. You can choose whether to add a key safe, an additional user and whether you would like one of our advisors to set-up the alarm for you.

If you would like to add any of our other products to your order, call us on 0800 085 7371. Our lines our open Monday to Saturday, 8am to 8pm.

Our 3-in-1 personal alarm service includes a medical support line and a medication information service. You can get expert support from our qualified nurses and trained pharmacists for an additional 28p per week when you add the helplines to your personal alarm service.

If you would like to add a fall detector, one of our home sensors or any of our other products to your order, simply call us on 0800 085 7371. You can add them to your personal alarm service at any time to enhance the support you receive.

The alarm unit is really easy to assemble. Delivery is free of charge. All you need is a modern phone socket and a mains electricity socket nearby (within 10 feet).

To support our personal alarm service, you need either two keyholders or one keyholder and a key safe. A keyholder is someone who has keys to your home, lives within 20 minutes and can come to your assistance if needed. This means there is always a way to get help to you, whenever you need it.

We can supply a key safe when you order your personal alarm.

One of our friendly advisors can set everything up for you. This service costs £60 and you can add it to your order when you purchase online. If you prefer to order by telephone, just let us know when you call 0800 085 7371.

If you, or the person who you are purchasing the alarm service for, have a condition that requires regular medication such as arthritis, diabetes, or high blood pressure, or are registered disabled, you may not have to pay VAT.

Even if you're not able to speak, by pressing the alarm unit we’ll always know who you are, and where you’re calling from. This means we can direct support to you very quickly.
