Secure Key Safes - Police Approved
If you need assistance it’s reassuring to know that your family, carers, and if necessary, the emergency services can quickly gain access to your home without causing damage.
A key safe is a secure, weatherproof box to keep a set of keys outside your home.
It can be fitted to any brick built or concrete external wall, outhouse or garage and is designed to hold up to three Yale-type or one deadlock key.
Secure, convenient and discreet
To support our personal alarm service, we recommend you have two keyholders who live within a 20 minute distance and can get to you if you need help.
If you don't have a keyholder who lives nearby, then it's essential you have a key safe. This means there is always a way to get help to you, whenever you need it.
The key safe can only be opened using the unique four digit code chosen by you. And the only people who know that code – and can get to the keys – will be you, your personal keyholder and us.
We will only give the code to the emergency services if we call them on your behalf and you’re unable to get to the door. Vital time can be saved in an emergency by having a secure way to get into your home without causing any damage.
The C500 KeySafe is the first and only mechanical key safe in the UK to have Police approval that is recognised by many leading insurance companies. It boasts a security rating making it as difficult to attack as a domestic front door.
It has an easy push keypad, a tough removable rubber cover and is built using heavy gauge, stainless steel and zinc alloy shell with a double wall construction for strength.
It costs £95 to add a key safe to your personal alarm order. This includes VAT as key safes are not eligible for zero rating.
A key safe is useful for anyone with our personal alarm service and:
Fitting a key safe is easy to do and you can always ask a friend or relative to help you.
Or if you have chosen our 'We-Connect' installation service, we can fit it for you at the same time as your personal alarm. We’ll advise you of the best position for your key safe and explain how to use it, and set up the code for you.
The We-Connect installation service costs £60 and as well as installing the personal alarm and key safe, we will also show you how to use the alarm and check the system.
We recommend you have two keyholders so we can get help to you quickly should you need it. Or if this isn't possible, you can use your key safe to act as your keyholder. This means we will always be able to get help to you if the emergency services are called.
No. Many of our customers will already have a key safe and do not need to purchase one from us.
If you change your key safe code then simply give us a call on 0800 085 7371 so we can update our records. We rely on this information being correct so we can arrange assistance for you if you need it.
You will need a power drill with a 5mm drill bit suitable for masonry, a T30 screwdriver and a pencil to mark up where to drill.
We recommend you choose a position that is out of easy sight from passers-by.
It can only be fitted to an external wall, not an internal one, and the wall must be made of brick or concrete.
It can be difficult to know when to talk to your parents about plans for their future. Read our guide to help you have a relaxed discussion around the care and support they would prefer.
